DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. ??” Toyota, which will jump into NASCAR Nextel Cup stock car racing in 2007, was the fastest marque in a weekend of testing for ARCA RE/MAX Series stock cars at Daytona International Speedway.
Josh Wise, a standout in USAC open-wheel racing from Riverside, California, became the first driver to put a new Camry through its paces at the 2.5-mile speedway. His Eddie Sharp Racing No. 22 was the only Toyota in a 59-car test session, but it was the fastest, logging a lap of 181.925 mph Saturday.
David Green, a former NASCAR Busch Series champion, was second in a Chevrolet Monte Carlo at 181.167.
